Programs for Children Who Require Extra Support

There are children in our communities who are born with challenges that require extra attention and support – for them and for their families.

Reach Child and Youth Development Society is a non-profit organization that has been providing programs and services to children and their families since 1959.  Reach offers and facilitates quality services to children and families, enabling children to reach their full potential.
The mission is to provide early and timely intervention for children with special needs in a family-centered manner; provide choices and ongoing support to children and families; facilitate and support the full integration of all children into our community and exist as a quality community resource for the optimal development of children from infancy onwards. Aboriginal Infant Development Program – Children 0-3 years of age
AIDP primarily supports families in understanding and meeting the needs of infants and toddlers who have, or at risk of facing development delays or disabilities. Participation within the program is by referral by parent, doctor, PHN, CDFC or other community professional. The Infant Development Consultant facilitates workshops that cover physical, intellectual and socio-emotional development of infants and toddlers. The Aboriginal IDP consultant also ensures that the children have exposure to their culture.

Aboriginal Supported Child Development  - Children 3-12 years of age
SCD is for children who require extra support to be included in a childcare or other community setting. The children may have a developmental delay or disability or are at risk of having a developmental delay in physical, cognitive, communicative or emotional/behavioral areas.
